Kitchen Remodels in Port Hueneme
Ventura County · 28–45 min from our office
Kitchen and bathroom remodels, whole-home updates, additions and stucco repair in Port Hueneme, with materials chosen for salt air and coastal permits handled.
Port Hueneme is a small beach city wedged between the Port of Hueneme and Naval Base Ventura County, with Oxnard on its other sides. The port was finished in 1940, and the city grew around it and the Navy base. Its Art Deco lighthouse, completed in 1941 with the original 1897 Fresnel lens, still stands at the harbor entrance, and the wooden pier at Hueneme Beach Park stretches 1,250 feet into the ocean.
Living this close to the water shapes how we build. Salt air corrodes standard hardware, fasteners and light fixtures, the marine layer keeps bathrooms damp, and stucco and flashing details face constant moisture. We choose corrosion-resistant hardware, specify ventilation that actually clears humidity, and pay close attention to how windows and doors are flashed when we open the exterior.
The City of Port Hueneme issues its own building permits, through an online system since July 2025, and beach-area properties are in the Coastal Zone, where additions and exterior changes can need a Coastal Development Permit. We are about 28 to 45 minutes from our Santa Paula office and often pair Port Hueneme work with Oxnard projects.

Fifty acres of beach park and a 1,250-foot wooden pier, first built in 1956, at the foot of the city.

Much of Port Hueneme's housing dates from the decades after the port and the Navy base were built, mostly single-story homes on small lots, along with condominium and townhome communities near the beach such as Surfside. Many still have original kitchens and bathrooms.
Homes near the beach face the most salt and moisture, so exterior stucco, windows, doors and metal fixtures wear faster than they do a few miles inland.
Standard steel fasteners, hinges and fixtures corrode quickly near the beach. We specify stainless or coated hardware and finishes rated for coastal exposure.
Beach-area additions and exterior changes can need a Coastal Development Permit in addition to the building permit, which adds time to the schedule.
The marine layer keeps humidity high. Bathroom remodels get an exhaust fan vented outside with humidity control, as code requires, sized to actually clear the room.
Condominium and townhome remodels need association approval and often have rules about plumbing, flooring sound control and work hours.

Tell us about your Port Hueneme home. We will plan the materials and the permits for the coast and give you a written price.
We choose stainless or coated fasteners, hinges and hardware, fixtures rated for coastal exposure, and finishes that resist corrosion. On the exterior, flashing around new windows and doors is lapped carefully and stucco penetrations are sealed. Inside, bathrooms get exhaust fans that move enough air to clear the marine-layer humidity.
Yes, with your association's approval. Condo remodels often have rules about moving plumbing, sound-rated underlayment under hard flooring, work hours and where materials can be stored. We review the rules with you, submit what the association needs and pull the city permit.
If the property is in the Coastal Zone, an addition or exterior change may need a Coastal Development Permit before the building permit. Interior remodels usually do not. We check your parcel and the scope at the first visit so the schedule accounts for it.
Port Hueneme moved permit applications online through OpenGov in July 2025, so walk-in submittals are no longer the norm. We prepare the plans, submit them online, answer plan check comments and schedule inspections for you.
