Remodeling Cost Guides

What kitchens, bathrooms, additions, retrofits and exterior work cost, using published, sourced figures, and what makes a Ventura County project cost more or less.

Online cost numbers are all over the place, and a figure without a source is just a guess. Each guide below uses published data and names where it came from, usually national or regional surveys, plus program figures where a state program applies. We then explain the local conditions that push a Ventura County job above or below those numbers.

None of these figures is an LE Construction quote. The price for your project is the one in a written estimate after we have seen the house.

Cost guide FAQs

Where do the numbers in your cost guides come from?

From published sources named in each guide, such as the annual Cost vs. Value report, and from state programs like Earthquake Brace + Bolt where they publish typical costs. We say when a figure is a national or regional average. We do not publish made-up ranges or averages from our own jobs dressed up as market data.

Why not just list your own prices?

Because two jobs with the same name can be very different. A bathroom with a rotted subfloor and old galvanized pipe costs more than one in a newer house with the same tile. A written estimate based on your house is the only number we stand behind.

Are Ventura County remodels more expensive than the national average?

Often, yes. Published regional data puts Pacific-region remodeling costs at or above the national average, and coastal permits, fire-zone construction rules and older housing can add to that here. Each guide points out the local factors that apply to that kind of project.

How often are the guides updated?

We update a guide when its source publishes new figures or when a code or program change affects cost, and each guide shows the date it was last updated. If you see a number that looks out of date, let us know.
